Get Life
2,000 years ago, the most influential person in History, Jesus Christ, was born in a stable. Though he came into the world in a humble way, to a regular couple, that small baby was God’s answer to humanity’s desperate need for salvation.
Trapped by our sin, we were separated from God and cut off from His blessings. God, because of His great love for us, came to earth as a common man – Jesus. He lived among us. Eventually He sacrificed His life on the cross, all because of His great love. The cost of our sin was His death. He gave it that we might receive salvation through Him.
It was His life given, which gives us eternal life. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave is only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life”.
This life is not just eternal life. It is also a new life now. Jesus said, John 10:9 “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” He came to carry our weaknesses, our sickness, and our pain. When we come to Him in faith, He releases His abundant life into our lives by His Spirit, so we can walk in total freedom, peace, power and purpose.
Jesus is more than a historical figure or a great teacher. He conquered sin and death so that we might live. He paid the price, so we don’t have to earn His love and salvation. Its’ a free gift available to all who will believe.
Jesus wants to have a personal relationship with us. All we have to do is receive Him by faith, and come to Him in honesty. We do this by talking to God and admitting to Him that we know we are sinners. We deserve His judgment not His grace. We also acknowledge His love. He did not just love the world in general, but He loved us individually, just as we are. Christ’s death on the cross and resurrection is personal and requires a personal response.
If you would like respond to God now, here is a sample prayer to follow:
“Dear God, I know you love me even though I am a sinner. I have sinned against you. I deserve your judgment not your mercy. I am sorry for my sins. I want to live for You. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins. He was raised from the dead. Please come into my life and give me eternal life. Please help me to experience your power, so I can have the abundant life you promised. Thank you, God, for all you have done. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.”
